Job Purpose

The primary objective as the QHSE Manager is ensuring that operational activities are carried out in accordance with quality requirements of ISO 17020 and ISO 9001.

The role is to maintain the internal QHSE audit programmes against all relevant standards and complete inspections and audits as required and provide practical QHSE support to the organisation to ensure compliance to both internal and external standards.

Also, you will need to ensure that the performance, quality and delivery of the product remains high and is continuously improving to provide goods and services that are market leading.

You will be required to review, develop and manage QHSE standards, policies and systems across all company operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable accreditations and certifications and in conjunction with UK QHSE team to maintain and manage external accreditation (including ISO9001, 17020 and client approvals).


Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as the business lead for quality management, including the prompt approval of quality documents, act as final arbitration on all quality matters, and chair the quality management review meeting to ensure highest standards are maintained
  • Point of contact for all quality related issues within the company
  • Implementing a rigorous internal audit system and conducting/leading audits for compliance with company policies
  • Consult with involved parties and agree the schedule for all 17020 and 9001 audits and technical audits to encourage and support successful compliance
  • Ensure corrective actions arising from internal audits are completed effectively and promptly to support the ongoing operational activities of the business whilst maintaining compliance.
  • Supporting Operations and Technical Managers in ensuring QMS controlled documents are reviewed in compliance with defined frequencies to avoid non-conformances/audit failings
  • Complete inspections, audits and maintenance of the internal QHSE audit programmes to deliver compliance against all relevant standards, including independent system quality audits
  • Develop and maintain systems that establish appropriate QHSE standards, monitor compliance and measure/report on performance, working and supporting each site as needed
  • Regularly researching the marketplace and competition to keep up to date with industry developments
  • Reviewing customer feedback and using this to inform quality processes and decisions
  • Implementing improvements to processes that lead to overall increases in product quality
  • Satisfying customer expectations about the products quality
  • Provide updates to senior managers and directors around quality issues, investigating causes of quality problems and proposing solutions to those issues
  • Ensure that all suppliers meet the quality requirements of the company and Audit suppliers to assure quality before incorporation into the service
  • Direct staff and teams across the business to ensure quality frameworks are implemented
  • Providing internal training

Must Have

Education/Knowledge, Skills and Work Experience Requirements

  • Working knowledge of relevant QHSE standards (ISO 9001, 17020, 14001, OHSAS 18001, etc) and prevailing legislation
  • Extensive and recent experience operating within a multi-disciplined and diverse service organisation
  • Considerable experience of developing and auditing QHSE management systems
  • Relevant Lead Auditor qualification or willingness to progress to Lead Auditor status
  • Ability to define QHSE Management Systems in line with recognised standards
  • Demonstrate ability to draft practical and auditable QHSE policies and procedures
  • ¬†Practical application of broad/general range of QHSE management techniques
  • Auditing of QHSE management systems (in particular, field-based operations and administrative activities)
  • Must be IT literate i.e. competent in the use of MS Office
  • Relevant Quality Professional Qualification
  • Relevant Health & Safety professional qualification (IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent)
  • Chartered Member of Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) is desirable
