Case Study
Subsea Valve Inspection

We recently worked with one of our regular clients to assist them in the inspection of procured valves for one of their major projects.

WHAT WAS REQUIRED?

NECIT were asked to provide our quality inspectors to determine whether our clients Subsea Trunnion Ball and Actuated Gate Valves had been built and tested in accordance with International standards, client specifications and the project purchase order.

Our NECIT inspectors were required to witness a range of manufacturing activities in line with the manufacturing Inspection Test Plan (ITP) on these valves including:

  • Material Inspection
  • Welding Inspection
  • NDE
  • Assembly & Dimensional Inspection
  • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT’s) including hydrostatic body testing (both upstream and downstream) and gas body inspections (both upstream and downstream)
  • Due to the concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic, some of these FAT’s were also completed remotely by our inspectors, using the use of live streaming services
  • Painting Inspection
  • Packing and final inspection
  • Documentation review

WHAT SERVICE DID NECIT PROVIDE?

Even during these unprecedented times of COVID-19, NECIT were quickly able to source experienced QA/QC inspectors, specialised in Valve inspection, to carry out the tasks provided by our client.

Our inspectors were able to work both on site and remotely to ensure that the required tests were conducted as per procedure and to an acceptable standard.

The NECIT inspectors were hand-picked using our new INSPEKTA-GADGET software system, which finds the most relevant inspector for the job at hand, meaning whatever the type of inspection, NECIT have it covered.

We are passionate about communication at NECIT and encourage our inspectors to raise any issues immediately and directly with the project teams, ensuring any issues which are noted during the inspection are relayed directly to the client for further action.

WHAT WERE THE RESULTS AND NECIT DIFFERENCE?

As a result of the inspectors we provided and the results they witnessed, the subsea valves are deemed fit for purpose.

The constant communication NECIT have with our clients helped the project run as as smooth as possible, by providing focused daily inspection reports for our clients, including;

  • Information and review of the inspection itself for that particular day
  • A list of applicable specifications and documents used during the inspection
  • Progress made and preparations for the next day of inspection

We kept the project team up to date with an impartial overview of current production information.

No matter the project, no matter where in the world, NECIT are able to source the perfect inspector either on-site or remotely, as demonstrated in this case study.
