We’re reflecting on the incredible success of the latest NECIT summer networking event – The ARC: Elevated!
Engineering and welding professionals from across the North East came together for an afternoon and evening of industry discussion and development at the luxurious ABOVE, the rooftop venue and bar at Newcastle’s Vermont Hotel.
The event kicked off with an insightful presentation from Health and Safety Executive David Glass CEng FIMechE, representing Britain’s national regulator for workplace health and safety. This essential topic was explored intricately over this session, delving into compelling case studies to reinforce the importance of welding’s role across the supply chain.
David’s talk was followed by a panel discussion led by industry experts spanning the entire scope of the welding sector’s impact on the wider engineering industry. NECIT Founder and CEO Peter Lyons was joined by David Ross-Pinnock from Durham University, James Bell from Carbon Arc and Richard Mawson of Dobot Robotics to share their professional perspectives and open up the discussion to the event’s attendees.
The stunning Newcastle Quayside skyline made for an exceptional backdrop to partake in the prime networking opportunities afforded to us by this event which brought together the industry’s key decision makers and innovators. But all work and no play does not a NECIT networking event make! As the sun began to set, the region’s top engineering professionals were able to let off some steam at the bar, enjoying some refreshing drinks, feasting on the delicious BBQ buffet and tapping along to live tunes from the resident DJ and roaming saxophone player.
We’d like to thank everyone who attended The ARC: Elevated for making this event a resounding success. NECIT’s aim with our networking events is to refresh the traditional format to create a relaxed atmosphere which facilitates collaboration. We hope that all who came left with not just new connections, but new friendships to foster a community spirit within the engineering community moving forward.
NECIT would especially like to thank our knowledgeable expert speakers, David Glass CEng FIMechE, David Ross-Pinnock, James Bell and Richard Mawson, who gave their time to share new insights and advice with our guests. We’re already looking forward to our next event!
