Francesca Watts appointed as our new Group Accounts Assistant at NECIT Services, after being promoted from her previous role as Trainee Inspection Coordinator.
Francesca Watts joined us back in November 2020 as one of our new Trainee Inspection Coordinators. After showcasing her vast array of skills, ‘Cheska’ has recently been promoted to our Group Accounts Assistant. We took the time to congratulate Fran on her new role and got the chance to ask her some questions.
Q – Can you tell us a bit about your new role?
A – So my new job title is Group Accounts Assistant. At the moment, I’ll be sending out paying invoices, looking after purchase orders and any expenses for both NECIT Services, but also our sister company, The Welding Development Centre (The WDC).
Q – What would you say are the main skills you need for this role?
A – I think I will transfer many skills over from my previous role as a Trainee Inspection Coordinator to my new role. I would say the main skills needed are attention to detail and organisation, both of which I used in my previous role. Looking after the accounts for both NECIT and The WDC, I will need to maintain a high level of organisation. So I would say that is probably the main skill required. Working with numbers of course will be another important skill!
Q – Are you excited to be starting this new role within NECIT?
A – I’m very excited to have been offered this new role at NECIT. I have been in the role about 2 weeks now learning the ropes and I am excited about what it has to offer me. It’s going to be challenging for sure, but I’m excited to learn something new and start a new career path. I do have a keen interest in data and numbers, so this is something I will enjoy. But I will definitely miss some parts of coordination!
Q – What would you say will be the main challenges you will face in this role?
A – Since I have only been in the role a couple of weeks I am seeing something new everyday! I’m still getting used to some of the financial jargon that’s used, as well as some aspects of the accounting software which I haven’t used before. I’m sure I am going to be faced with many challenges, but I am determined to face them head on. Every job has it’s challenges, so this is something I have dealt with in the past. I am confident I can surpass any challenge which comes my way!
Q – As you are new to this type of role, are you going to experience any sort of training to help your development
A – Yes and this is something I am very much looking forward too. NECIT are putting me through an accountancy course which I will be starting online before moving back to face-to-face teaching after COVID-19 restrictions have been fully lifted. The management team at NECIT have been so helpful during my transition to this new role. The fact they are eager to help my development through this training course is something I really appreciate.
Q – Finally, what would you say is the best thing about working at NECIT?
A – Definitely the best thing about working at NECIT is the team. Everyone is so supportive of each other and help each other progress. It is a great team to be a part of and I am glad to have this support in my new role also.
