NECIT Services Ltd. is proud to announce our certification by ADIPS as a registered inspection body (IB), authorised specifically to provide non-destructive testing (NDT) services for fairground and amusement rides across the UK.
The Amusement Device Inspection Procedures Scheme (ADIPS) is the fairground and amusement park industry’s own adopted standard for inspection and certification of fairground rides and amusement devices in the UK. ADIPS has been established in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive to provide an essential UK-wide standard for ride inspectors to follow which ensures the safe operation and maintenance of amusement devices.
Health and Safety Executive publication HSG175 mandates pre-use inspections before periods of operation plus an annual inspection for every amusement device to maintain it to a safe standard for users – just like an MOT for a car. All amusement devices inspected and certified under ADIPS are issued with a Declaration of Operational Compliance (DOC) which certifies the ride is safe to operate.
As ADIPS-approved IB for NDT, NECIT is qualified to carry out the following NDT methods:
Non-destructive testing is an effective way to collect data about a material or product without causing permanent damage or destruction to the tested product. In-service NDT inspection can detect irregularities and identify areas of risk before they become problematic and cause failures in service – a risk that can be especially catastrophic to public health with regards to amusement devices.
NECIT’s NDT services are essential to the maintenance and review that fairground and amusement rides require throughout their lifespan to manage any potential hazards and to establish their safety for both ride attendants and the general public. Our written report from any NDT examination carried out is recorded on ADIPS central database and put towards the device’s DOC, ensuring that it can operate safely within a given timeframe.
With the busy summer funfair season coming to a close, now is the ideal time to plan your next inspection. ADIPS recommends booking as far in advance as possible to secure your inspection time and ensure your fairground equipment is operating at suitable safety and engineering standards throughout peak seasons without your DOC lapsing.
If your amusement devices are in need of inspection, contact NECIT’s team of NDT experts for comprehensive non-destructive testing to identify any safety concerns, maintenance issues or modifications so your equipment stays in good working order throughout its lifespan.
